Never Give Up The "Fight" Within You!

Never Lose The Fight Within You!

Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire.

- William Butler Yeats

You can't be afraid of what people will say. You have to be brave and take risks.

- Charles M. Shulz

There is no security on this earth, only opportunity.

- General Douglas McArthur

What Is Your Deepest Fear?

A while ago I watched a movie called Coach Carter and even though I am a wrestling coach I liked the movie. In particular a poem or statement that was made regarding fear.

This is a true story in which Samuel L. Jackson plays the controversial high school basketball coach who benched his undefeated team due to their collective poor academic record in 1999.

He constanly asks one difficult student "What is your deepest fear?". The kid in question always avoids this question and in one of the scenes answers the following...

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

As I was thinking today about the importance of hope, resilience, persistence, and particularly today a thought I had about never giving up the FIGHT- Within Us! I thought again about this quote. I hope you enjoy it and can apply it to your life.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly. - Hughes, Langston

Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large or petty–never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.–Winston Churchill

Continuous effort–not strength or intelligence–is the key to
